I love how one single song can continue to give healing for years and years to come. What a gift from the Indigo Girls, originally released in 1989.

How many of us use fear like a comfort blanket? Or demand definitive answers from the Great Mystery?

It was 10:30 am and we were supposed to perform at 1. I entered the “oh sh*t this is actually happening” zone right when I woke up.

No matter how many performances I do, there always seems to be a point right before the show when there is not enough time to run it as much as I thought I needed to.

I’m used to singing this song a ca****la in circles of people, and as I was running it with the track I tanked at the climax every single time in the least graceful way possible, cursing angrily and flailing.

Calmly, my man looked at me and said, “I’m going to the store to get cat food and you’re going to finish writing this.” So he did. And I did.

God, good strong yang is so helpful and so needed right before a show when the nerves start running.

This song is called “Spirit Told Me.” It came to me when I was a nomad living in the desert in New Mexico. This song is so dear to my heart and it brought me and together. It’s so unbelievable to hear it coming together with full production.

Thank you and for the wonderful opportunity to play some unreleased music!

What do you think spirit told me? (If you’ve heard the song, do you remember? 😋)

Having too much fun in Frederick’s home studio this week. Gosh, it’s so vulnerable to open up like this. I’ve never recorded my own songs with professional quality. Frederick has a way of encouraging that small spark inside of me that is so tentative to grow. He sees the potential in me and brings so much skill, experience, and raw creativity to the process. I’m so blessed and so excited to be embarking on this journey with him.
