UPDATE | We understand and share your concerns about red-light running, speeding, and other traffic issues in our community. Safety is our top priority, which is why officers will continue to cite drivers for these violations along University Drive and across Denton. We also recognize that it takes time to adjust to change, including the new No Right Turn on Red signs at University and Bell, Nottingham, and Old North. At this time, we will be prioritizing education over enforcement for this specific offense at these intersections. Additionally, the City contacted the Municipal Court to request a review of the citations related to this offense, and the signs will be brought before City Council for further consideration. Drive safe, Denton!

ORIGINAL | Have you seen the new No Right Turn on Red signs in town? In response to community concerns about University Drive crashes, new signs have been installed on both sides of the following intersections:

🚦Bell Avenue at E. University
🚦Nottingham Drive at E. University
🚦Old North Road at E. University

Expect to frequently see our officers near these intersections as we work to educate the public on the new signage. Our goal is to reduce crashes, many of which are caused by drivers running red lights or failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Wherever you drive in Denton, remember to watch your speed, follow traffic laws, and help us make our roads safer.
