Crossbeak takes her social media manager very serious. Just figured I should show you all the real face behind the page. 🤣

The only remaining survivors from my day of clumsy fingers. My girls are looking at me with judgy eyes. Pretty sure they are saying ā€œafter all we do for you! And then you just break them!?! We are cutting you off!ā€

Because when it’s really hot out, there is no better way to lay your egg than in the same nesting box as someone else who is also trying to lay their egg. šŸ˜‚

07/20/2026

So there I was, impatiently waiting for this hen to lay so I could finish up the mystery dozen and get these eggs shipped. I walk out there with high hopes. Just to find the egg I was waiting on kicked out of the nesting box. I’m now sitting here reconsidering all my life choices. I’m about to pick up an underwater basket weaving hobby instead.

Another round succumbed to my inability to hold on to these slippery little buggers! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

So ummmm this happened. One of my grow outs decided to lay a pink and purple camo egg. Now is this a fluke? Or is this going to be a regular occurrence?

It’s supposed to get HOT HOT this week! I try to keep everything light hearted on here, but if you live in the south, make sure your flock is set up with some necessities to get through the heat. I hate seeing all these posts about the passing of peoples flocks due to the heat. For some of us frozen watermelon and or ice in their waterers isn’t a possibility and that’s ok. Here is what I do to keep my flocks cool.

Shade WITH airflow. Shade doesn’t provide much relief without some sort of air flow. That doesn’t mean fans are needed, rather just no tarps or walls. Shade cloth, tree shade, vegetation shade works great!

Kiddy pools in the shade with cool water. You can add stepping stone/bricks so they are more willing to get their feet wet. When I say cool water I simply mean straight out the hose after you have run all the hot water out of it.

Misters! You don’t have to go have misters installed or any of that. My hose ļæ¼nozzle has a ā€œmistā€ setting. So I take that and Jimmy rig ļæ¼that sucker on the fencing of the coop run. Again, somewhere in the shade. They will be scared of it at first, but before you know it, they gonna be acting like ducks standing in it.

Lastly cool water. Again, I’m not saying you have to add ice or any of that. But after sitting in the heat all day those waterers get hot, And so does the water. So cool water in the am. Straight out the hose after running all the hot water out is fine. Place the waterer in the shade. Check the water temp during the day whenever you can. Make sure it’s staying cool. If it’s hot, dump it out and refill with cool water.

I’ve lost a total of one chicken so far to this heat and it was in my growout pen where I needed to open it up to have better airflow. Once I did that everyone has been good. I personally feel like we as chicken tenders want what’s best for our flocks but we over do it, unintentionally setting them up for failure. We give them frozen treats, ice in their waterers, fans, swamp coolers and all these things to keep them cool. But how do we expect their bodies to cope naturally when we have provided all these unnatural ways of keeping them cool (ice and frozen treats) on a daily basis, and that one time we can’t be there to provide that we end up with ā˜ ļø chickens because their bodies never got the opportunity to gradually adjust to the elements in their environment, causing their bodies to go into distress/shock. Am I saying you shouldn’t give them frozen treats? Or that we shouldn’t be doing anything to help our chickens stay cool? Absolutely not! In moderation is fantastic! I’m simply pointing out that we may be over doing it, which is preventing their bodies from naturally adjusting throughout the seasons. Contributing to heat related fatalities. I see you over there just trying to do whatever it takes for your babies! I get it! You are amazing for that! But let’s work smarter, not harder! Sometimes we just have to work with nature, and not against it.

I hope that helps you all look at dealing with the heat a little bit differently. šŸ¤—

ALL HAVE BEEN CLAIMED. Thank you all so much! You’re amazing! I truly appreciate all the support! I will be getting back to everyone who messaged me soon. It’s a busy weekend and trying to make sure the flocks are ready for this next heat wave. šŸ¤—

LETS GET THIS šŸ’© SHOW STARTED!

6 Dozen available -1/2 dozen Rose Blooms w/hens choice 1/2 dozen, ships out Monday.

If you have read my pinned post, then you know what to do! Comment, then PM me. Do that now! Don’t worry, I will wait for you to get back.

Failure to do BOTH will force me to move on to the next person in line. I’m trying to keep it fair y’all, so help a girl out! Include what form of payment that works best for you. I take Venmo (), Cash App ($savvydogs), and Zelle (612-227-0523). I will respond telling you if you made the first 6, and if so I will send my payment link for your preferred method of payment if you need. Payment needs to be received within the first 15 minutes of receiving the payment link, or I will move onto the next person in line. Price is located on the pinned post regarding my Rose Blooms Collection. So please be aware of this before commenting, messaging, and deciding you’re no longer interested. I’m happy to answer all your questions after payment is received. Please be patient with me though as I am usually digging through the sea of messages trying to find my peeps. ONCE payment is sent, message me saying paid, what top three dozens you’re interested in, and your Address for shipping. If you are wanting them held at the post office please also provide your phone number. The last person to get to choose, has the option to switch out some of the eggs in their dozen to better suit their taste (other than the Rose Bloom eggs for obvious reasons). I will first work on getting payments secured from all 6 people. Once that’s done, I will move on to figuring out which dozen is going where. This part is time consuming, just fyi.

If you aren’t the first 6 to comment STILL COMMENT AND MESSAGE! If someone doesn’t pay in that 15 minutes or doesn’t respond to my message in half hour, then YOU’RE UP! Worst that happens is I respond to your message tomorrow saying they have been claimed but you got this next time! The more I see you trying, the more sorry I feel for you. It might end up working out in your favor šŸ˜‰.

I’m gonna finish this up with a quick shout out to all of you! I feel so blessed every weekend I do this and the AMAZING response! It truly blows my mind and warms my heart with the overwhelming interest. Makes all the hard work I put into creating these, sooo worth it, and I love being able to share it with you all. The only thing I can say I miss is the random conversations and getting to know everyone on a more personal level, like I used to before. I love hearing about everyone’s journey and being able to relate. So don’t be shy! I may not chat much on Saturdays when I’m working out all the details but all the other days, Hey girl! šŸ¤— šŸ˜‰

My son’s girlfriend was trying to convince me to start a TikTok. They are convinced people need to see all this nonsense and what comes out of this mouth hole throughout the day. 😳 I don’t know whether to take that as a compliment ooorrrrr…
