Arthur E. Bard was born in 1905 in Portmouth, Ohio. Although little information has been collected about his life, this Ohio painter was noted in multiple 1930’s articles for his talents as a “lightning painter.” The brief articles describe Bard performing demonstrations of his rapid ex*****on of skillful oil sketches, one of which suggesting he executed a total of seven 15” x 30” scenes in oil in just 40 minutes. Works signed by A.E. Bard most often include idyllic landscapes and studies of animals. In addition to painting all his life, Bard owned Bard’s Picture Shop in his hometown on the Ohio River. He died on March 15, 1979.
