Color me SAFE Foundation is proud to launch this powerful six-part educational series featuring Mushfique Chowdhury , LPC Associate, supervised by Dr. Joey Santos, and an active CMSF volunteer.
🧠 Part 1: What Is Trauma for a Child?
Trauma is not only about what happened. It is also about what happened inside the child when their developing brain and nervous system could not fully process the experience.
Fear, instability, bullying, family conflict, sudden changes, social media, and feeling unsafe can affect children in ways adults may not immediately recognize.
When we better understand trauma, we can look beyond a child’s behavior and respond with greater awareness, compassion, and support. ❤️
Children do not simply react to what happened; they react to what their developing brain understood the experience to mean.

Not every childhood wound leaves a bruise. 🧡
Some children carry invisible pain behind smiles, good grades, laughter, or even difficult behaviors. What we often label as “acting out” may actually be a child asking for help in the only way they know how. 🧸
Childhood trauma does not just affect a moment… it can shape how a child feels, thinks, learns, trusts, and connects with the world. 💔

Honoring All Who Fathers In Every Corner of the World 🌎🩵
Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and guidance of fathers in all forms. Some wear ties, others wear uniforms, scrubs, or dust-covered jeans. No matter the job, showing up with love is what makes a father.
We honor 🫶🏽
👨👧👦 Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and uncles
🌈 Father figures in chosen families
🌟 Moms who’ve worn both hats
🕊️ Those grieving the loss of a father
💔 Children who never had the chance to know one
🌍 And families around the world facing war, genocide, and displacement, where Father’s Day brings more pain than joy.
To the brave, the tender, the protectors and nurturers… we see you, we honor you, and we hold space for you 🫶🏽
This Father’s Day, may we uplift those who show up with love even in the darkest places of the world 🌎. May we remember that true fatherhood knows no border, gender, or definition.

Juneteenth is not just a celebration, it is a call to conscience. ✊🏽
On this day in 1865, freedom finally reached those who had been denied it the longest. And yet, the truth remains…freedom delayed was not full freedom, and the promise of justice is still unfinished.
As voting rights are challenged 🗳️, Black history is erased from classrooms 📚, and equity efforts are silenced, Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not something we simply remember. It is something we must protect, defend, and carry forward.
Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that equality delayed is equality denied. ⏳⚖️
We’re living in a time where truth is under attack and justice is still unequal. But we are also living in a time of resilience, where voices rise 📣, communities organize, and young people lead with courage, clarity, and vision. 💪🏽
As Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, reminds us:
“None of us are free until we’re all free, and we aren’t free yet.”
So today, we honor Juneteenth not only in memory, but in movement. Because until we are all free, none of us truly are. 🖤❤️💛💚

🎤✨ “What was your favorite question from Ask Auntie?” ✨🎤
For our final Irving Ask Auntie! Teen Circle before summer, we handed the mic 🎙️ to our teens and let them share the questions that sparked the biggest conversations! 💭💬
Our topic, “What Nobody Tells You About Growing Up,” opened the door to honest discussions about friendships, family expectations, identity, pressure, independence, and everything in between… ❤️ it was goooood!
One thing we learned? Yep… nobody has it all figured out… and that’s alright. 😊
A huge THANK YOU 🙏🏽 to our amazing facilitator, Radha Patel 🫶🏽, for creating a space where teens felt comfortable being real, vulnerable, and heard. 🌟
