The national average rate for a 30-year fixed home loan dropped almost a third of a percentage point to 4.99% this week from 5.3%, Freddie Mac said in a report on Thursday. The average 15-year fixed mortgage dropped to 4.26%, the lowest since April, from 4.58% last week.
