Pupdate!!!

Shadow is still chilling with us, hoping for his forever home. He's starting to show more of his personality, and y'all....he's such a love bug.

We have a morning ritual now. After we get the kids situated for school, I go into the garage and sit down and he and I snuggle up on the couch for a second, we say good morning to each other, he gives me kisses, and then when he's done with the snuggles he lays down at my feet until I get up again. When I go inside to work or shower or run errands it takes about 5 minutes before he starts howling to let us know that he's been left alone and he's not happy about it.

Now that he's seen consistency with us coming back when we leave, the separation anxiety and the destruction that comes along with it seems to have eased up quite a bit. Now, if he makes any kind of mess, it's typically because he has polished off his remaining food and is now on the prowl for anything that smells edible. He has an impressive sniffer.

He appears to be completely house trained minus the tendency to mark. He's only had a couple small accidents when circumstances required us to leave him longer than he should have been left. He doesn't typically jump but he will paw at you for attention. Still shows comprehension and response to the commands to sit and to shake. We are learning lay down and stay. He's good on the leash, occasionally pulling, but if you rear him back gently he will continue walking beside you without pulling until he forgets again. I've never had to struggle with him during a walk.

Still no barks. I honestly don't know if he even knows how to bark. He has a playful rumble that is not quite a growl, a whine, and of course that very wolfish howl of his that you've seen in prior posts. We suspect he might be a digger but we haven't given him free reign of the backyard because of our dogs. He definitely needs a tall fence or a long lead to run on to prevent him from escaping. He is definitely a well-honed escape artist.

If you or anybody you know is interested in fostering or adopting Shadow please reach out via messages here or by commenting on one of the posts. We still need to find Shadow a loving long-term home where he can truly become part of the pack he so desperately craves. Please help us find that home for him.

Pupdate: Day Nine

We've been a little quiet lately, but only because there's been no news.

Tomorrow marks 10 days. We've done everything we can think of to find Shadow's owners, but we've received no contacts.

Now we transition to finding Shadow a new home. Here are the deets:

Age unknown, still has puppy teeth.

LARGE dog. Will get larger.

Gentle, smart, doesn't bark, but HOWLS like a werewolf during the full moon.

INTACT.

Good with kids, but will try to dominate if not monitored. Seems to be interested in cats, but not aggressive.

He DOES mark. He seems to be at least partially house trained, but he has marked a few things.

Separation anxiety that seems to decrease over time, but will probably flare up in a good home.

No worms visible in p**p, but we have not had him vetted to ensure his health.

Comes with remaining treats, harness, chain collar, and leash.

We will require a rehoming fee, to limit the risk of Shadow going to a bad fit.

Must be willing to meet Shadow at a neutral location with all household members, to gauge compatibility. Masks WILL be required.

Shadow is located in Plano, Tx. Please share, and if interested, please comment on this post.
