Honored to speak tonight at Congregation Anshai Torah in Plano about unity, solidarity and support of our One True God that binds the Christian and Jewish faith. In these times it is important to stand shoulder to shoulder against anti-semitism, hatred and idolotry that seeks to divide us. Let our voices and actions show the resolve that will forever shine the light of love into dark places. Let us educate those that are not aware of the danger that symboligy has on a community and those in it. Let us NEVER FORGET the past and work to make this world a better place for us and for our children.

Love Where You Live & Serve Where You Live
Terrific Republican Men's Club meeting this morning where Texas GOP Chairman Abraham George discussed the progress being made in Wahington following President Trumps inauguration.
Mr. George clearly stated that any bill in the Texas 89th legislature that supports the removal of local control in zoning is not supported by the Texas Repiblican party.
Over 160 people are headed to Austin to meet with legislators to engage with the process.
In support of our BE THE DIFFERENCE initiative with Meals on Wheels, 11 members teamed up to help local residents with yard work and clean up today.
Living in a great County means helping to take care of those who live there.
Love your neighbor.

LOCAL ZONING CONTROL COMING TO AN END
Yesterday, Lt. Governor Patrick released his top legislative priorities for the 89th Session, and a key focus is Senate Bill 15 – Removing Barriers to Affordable Housing. This signals a strong push for comprehensive zoning reform, continuing the trend of preemption or super-preemption legislation that limits local authority.
Given the political landscape, we should anticipate this bill as a fait accompli (something that may have already happened) and take a proactive approach in shaping a response that protects municipal interests while recognizing the legislative direction.
I fundamentally believe that once this bill is published and reaches a committee hearing, any significant changes will be extremely difficult. The reality is that powerful lobbying interests—including industry groups, non-profit housing advocates, and both Republican and Democratic policy organizations—will aggressively push to further erode local authority in the name of affordability and deregulation.
This will not be a partisan fight; rather, it will be a broad, bipartisan effort to reduce municipal control over zoning decisions. Given this, our best path forward is to prepare for the inevitable and position ourselves proactively, ensuring we maintain as much local oversight as possible within the framework of this legislation.
Now is the time to engage with key stakeholders, refine our strategy, and determine how best to safeguard local governance while navigating this legislative push.

Removing Local Zoning Ordinances to enable the building of more homes with greater affordability is front and center in the Texas 89th Legislative agenda.
This action would be catastrophic for communities like Heath,TX who has worked hard at preserving it's unique rural character in the midst of 'rooftop development' and high density throughout the region.
As the attached article indicates, there does not seem to be a lot of support in Austin for citizen petitions and voicing concern as the energy appears to be targeted on reform.
The discussions have begun to see how the goal of increasing housing can be accomplished by removing or loosening local zoning control.

Texas has a housing affordability crisis. Here’s how state lawmakers may tackle it in 2025. A likely fight over how much power to take away from local governments may dominate the debate.
