Quad State Bass Club
Hello Quad State Family,
I hope this message finds you well and ready for another exciting chapter in our club’s history. As we look ahead to 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable legacy of Thomas Cambell Sr. Back in 1993, Thomas Sr had a vision—to expand the fellowship, competitive fishing opportunities, and family involvement within our local fishing clubs.
Through weeks of spirited conversations and meticulous planning with the presidents of various bass clubs, the Quad State Bass Club Association was born. Originally uniting clubs from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, we have since welcomed Missouri into our ranks.
Our very first event was held on April 17, 1993, at Bob Sandlin Reservoir. The excitement was palpable—20 teams turned out, eager for a shot at $1,500 in prize money for a modest $125 entry fee. The boat ramp overflowed with anglers sporting new hats, shirts, and decals, while families cheered from the parking lot. That day marked the birth of a new era, defined by professionalism and camaraderie. Thomas insisted on a quality event, complete with a mandatory pre-tournament meeting to review rules and boundaries, and a structured process for boat numbers and weigh-ins. Victor Hawkins and Dr. Don Perry claimed championship honors at our inaugural event, setting the tone for over 32 Quad State tournaments across five states, with prizes ranging from $1,500 to $4,500 per day.
Though Thomas Cambell Sr transitioned in 2025, his impact continues to inspire us. In 2026, we’ll return to where it all began—Lake Bob Sandlin—for a highly anticipated event that could easily see over 100 boats. We’re encouraging every club member to join us in celebrating Thomas’s vision and helping it flourish beyond his greatest expectations.
These gathering promises something special for everyone, especially the youth in our families. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to experience the fun, fellowship, and excitement that makes our community so vibrant. The top prize for this two-day event is $5,000, so mark your calendars and start preparing! Here’s how you can participate:
