Neily on Nutrition

You must follow Abby Langer Nutrition for being a voice of reason. Thanks to Abby for reviewing this new Netflix documentary.
I especially appreciated this comment from one of Abby’s many followers. THIS is an important message (that you won’t see in the documentary).
“Due to the spread of fear mongering and misinformation, I am leery of admitting I am a farmer…a pork producer, in fact. I’m certain I will be vilified by people who watch these types of programs and take them as fact without ever having met a farmer, or stepped foot on a farm.
“I can tell you that we do NOT pump our animals full of antibiotics and hormones…for many reasons…but unless there is a good reason to use an antibiotic, we will not spend the money to do so…what reason would there be to do so unless you are genuinely helping an animal fight illness?
“…and yes we do spread the manure our pigs produce…it’s a natural fertilizer and helps grow crops. The practice is governed by a manure management plan that every livestock farmer must have. Soil is tested, rules are followed, etc. It’s the cycle of life. We do not fling manure indiscriminately 🤦♀️ (I can’t even with that claim)
“Yes, we should all eat more plants…they’re delicious and good for us…but meat is good for us too as part of a well balanced diet. Please don’t fear your food. Good, caring people grow it.
“We need to watch how much we vilify farmers of any kind…it is truly biting the hand that feeds us. …it’s great to be curious (truly)…but fear mongering and misinformation is a disservice…and dangerous.”
👍👍👍

A Hundred Years Ago Life Changed for Diabetics November 26th marks the 100th anniversary of a splendid dinner held at the University of Toronto to recognize perhaps the greatest Canadian achievement in science. A few weeks earlier, the Nobel committee had announced the awarding of the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine to Drs. Frederick...
