Slab Cracking Residential. We poured our raised slab just 4 days ago, and I’ve already noticed quite a bit of cracking. Some are hairline cracks, which I understand are usually due to shrinkage, but a few run the full length of the slab and are already about as wide as a credit card. I know the old saying that concrete only does two things, gets hard and cracks, but I’m concerned about seeing this much cracking so early on.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated, since the information I’ve found online has been pretty conflicting.

Three months after the divorce papers were signed, I stood at the bottom of these death-trap stairs holding a power tool for the first time in my life. My hands bled, my back screamed, but something fierce woke up inside me with each step I transformed. My ex-husband came to pick up boxes and saw me up there with my safety goggles and metal sheets. "You're going to hurt yourself," he said. I just kept working.
These stairs aren't Pinterest pretty. They're industrial and bold and completely mine. Every imperfect edge reminds me that I didn't need permission or approval or a man to make my house safe. My daughter brought her new boyfriend over last week and he said, "Your mom really did this herself?" She just smiled and said, "My mom does everything herself now." Sometimes the best revenge isn't living well - it's living capable. These tin-covered stairs might not be everyone's style, but they're strong enough to hold me as I climb toward whatever comes next.

My boys were rough housing again and somehow put a hole in the ceiling. The landlord saw it and said, “that’s coming out of your deposit.” What a selfish, greedy pig! He knew I had boys when I moved in here, and that’s just part of having kids. If I could afford for him to keep ANY of my deposit I wouldn’t be renting, I’d own. What should I do about this man’s greed?
