What started as a simple desire to “stand in the gap” for families in our community has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined—and being recognized for that is truly humbling.

This work only happens because of YOU—our supporters, volunteers, and neighbors who continue to show up in big and small ways to care for others. Forney really is special. 🖤

Update on the senior girl we’re helping.

Today, Stephanie (one of our board members) and I got to spend about an hour with her, and I’m just going to say it, she is the sweetest girl.

We brought her some clothes and food gift cards, but more than that, we got to sit, talk, and really hear her, and love in her. We talked about her situation, her future, her immediate needs… and of course, prom this Saturday. We took a few pictures, prayed over her, and before we left, she asked if she could hug us. 🥰

She is so grateful for every single person who has shown up for her. Your generosity is already making a real difference. What’s been donated will help carry her for at least the next month, maybe longer.

And this part just makes my heart so happy:
Someone is buying her prom dress.
Someone else is taking her shopping tomorrow for a dress and shoes, and then to dinner.

This is what a community that stands in the gap looks like.

Here are her immediate needs:
1. Hair for prom (this Saturday)
She needs help getting her hair done (African-American hair). If you or someone you know would be willing to donate your time and talent, please comment below or send us a DM.
2. Texas ID
She needs to get her ID so she can secure her ship date for the Army.
3. Phone support
She may need help with her phone bill or possibly a prepaid phone, since her current plan is tied to her sister that her parents pay for .

Last year, we were humbled to be named the runner-up, and to now be recognized as first place this year makes this moment even more meaningful.

And this year, this award means so much more because we are celebrating 5 years as a nonprofit. What started as a simple mission to stand in the gap has now grown into something far greater than we ever imagined. Now our mission is to stand in the gap, bring hope, and change lives.
