Today will be mostly cloudy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible today and rain chances will increase in the afternoon and evening hours. The high today will be in the low to mid 80s.
Over the weekend similar weather can be expected. Cloud coverage will decrease as the weekend progresses; Saturday and Sunday will be more of a mix of sun and clouds. Pop-up thunderstorms and scattered showers are possible each day.

Have a great weekend!
The 4th of July weekend is going to be perfect weather here in north Alabama!
Today, 07-03-2025, will be mostly cloudy but should be rain free! Rain chances across the entire state are miniscule today and tomorrow. The clouds are keeping temperatures a bit cooler today, with the high today reaching the mid to upper 80s. The low overnight will be similar to this morning, around 70 degrees.
Overnight the cloudy sky will become more clear. The sky on the 4th of July will remain mostly clear and sunny all day, making for a beautiful holiday on the lake or cooking out! Fair and clear weather will persist through Saturday, but Sunday will be more of a mix of sun and clouds.
The lack of clouds over the weekend is going to allow for more daytime heating. This will result in high temperatures ranging from the upper 80s to mid 90s. Low temperatures across the area will be in the low to mid 70s.
Have a great 4th of July and stay cool!

This picture was taken from Holly Pond.

The clouds will be sticking around for the rest of today. Scattered showers and storms will form today, mostly in the late afternoon and into the evening hours. The high today will reach the mid to upper 80s.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be similar to today with scattered showers in the evening. Wednesday could be a dry day because rain will be concentrated more toward the southeastern portion of Alabama. Overnight storms on Wednesday lowered temperatures significantly yesterday and kept central Alabama from meeting heat advisory temperatures, but it is going to be another hot and humid day again.
Today, 06-27-2025, the heat index will be near 100 once again. Those who are frequently outdoors should still use caution and hydrate often!
There is also a marginal risk (level 1/5) of severe weather for most of the state today. As scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across much of the region, these storms could bring some gusty winds. The map provided below is the Storm Prediction Center's outlook for today.
Over the weekend, similar weather can be expected. It will be hot and humid. There will be rain chances each day for the foreseeable future, increasing on Sunday and into Monday.
High temperatures will be mostly in the upper 80s, but may rise into the low 90s depending on how scattered these showers are. Low temperatures will continue to be in the 70s.

‼️ We will be cancelling the First Alert Weather Day as storms overnight broke the heat wave and have already brought more seasonal heat levels. This will limit the threat for storms for the remainder of the day. We will maintain a chance for a shower or storm but new guidance is coming in drier. We knew we would get a big round of storms but it appears the overnight round was the main show.
After today, scattered storms will be possible for each afternoon and we will see daytime temperatures near average. Still very hot and steamy at times, but the summer temperatures have set in and we should at-least see heat index levels stay below heat advisory criteria for a while. Long range guidance suggests the afternoon storm pattern will continue through most of next week.
Meanwhile, the first tropical system of the season Andrea formed over the central Atlantic yesterday but it has now weakened. This won’t have any impact on the weather along the coast. However, plan for daily scattered afternoon storms along the coast. These scattered downpours will also impact areas further inland for afternoon and evening travel. See you this evening!
The heat advisory in effect for north Alabama was supposed to end yesterday, 06-25-2025, but has now been extended to be in effect until Friday June 27th, 2025.
This means that today and tomorrow the heat index could possibly reach the low 100s once again.
Everyone stay indoors as much as possible and hydrate often. If you have to be outside for your job or other activities and cannot go indoors take frequent breaks to cool down.
Young children and the elderly are especially vulnerable during extreme heat, but all should be taking precautions!
Stay cool, Cullman!
A Heat Advisory has now been issued for north Alabama, including Cullman County.
This advisory will be in effect starting tomorrow, 06-24-2025, at noon until 06-25-2025 at 7:00 PM.
Stay inside as much as possible and hydrate well!

Rain chances will increase as we approach the weekend, but there is a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon every day this week. Thankfully, days will still be mostly sunny.
