This will probably be my final post on this page , I will be shutting it down soon. As I turn this page of my life I am humbled and grateful for the people who have said nice things. I really meant that the campaign was not about me, that was not political posturing. I know some doubted my sincerity and my ability to serve as Superintendent. I guess I was naive to think I really had a chance considering the power any incumbent has. I bear no animosity toward anyone and my only real regret is that I could not communicate effectively with enough people. I am proud that I took a stand on my principles. The power of the vote is what separates us from dictatorships and that is why it was so important for me to run. Men and women have shed their life blood for our right to vote. Women went on hungerstrikes and were beaten as they sought the vote. Just think of the fight 60 years ago over African Americans seeking to vote. Only some 26% of those registered to vote saw fit to vote. That saddens me. Perhaps I was not the best candidate, I know I am not a great talker, nor am I the best dresser. I simply wanted you to have a choice in the race. To those who supported me, I am very sorry I let you down. I really gave it my best shot, sorry it was not good enough. As to the future, I am going to do what I have done for the past 27 years, teach kids. I do not know what I will do in 4 years but I will try to make a difference every day. Thank you very much and I pray God will bless you all.

Now that the election is over, I will be collecting my signs. Thank you for your help and support. If you put out signs please collect them into one location if possible. I will come and get them out of your way. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.

I began this campaign in order to give the people a choice. I do not think it is good in our system for a candidate to be unopposed. It is apparent that the votes of this county disagree overwhelmingly. I stated over and over that this was not about me, but about the voters. I stand by that. The voters disagreed with me and it is absolutely their right to select their officeholder. I am heartened by the fact that I ran an ethical campaign and did not compromise my ethics or honor. The voters have spoken and I have heard them. Congratulations to Dr. Barnette and best wishes in leading this system in the future.

When I began this campaign six months ago, I emphasized a need for a shift in mindset, declaring this a critical moment of choice. As the election approaches tomorrow, you, the voters, hold the power to make that choice. Let me highlight the differences in mindset between my opponent and me.

First, I have no intention of dismantling anything in this system except the notion that voters and taxpayers are an inconvenience. I aim to build relationships with all levels of staff and collaborate as a unified team to enhance our system and avoid sweeping issues under the rug of ignorance.

I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure teachers have the necessary resources to educate our students. Our students only pass through school once, and it should be the best experience possible. I will support every principal in providing classroom teachers with the resources they need. I am committed to preparing our students for success, expanding and reinforcing career tech in unprecedented ways, perhaps by revitalizing all-day career schools if feasible.

I aim to collaborate with industry and businesses to teach all our students employability skills, not just test-taking strategies. The ultimate test for all of us is life, and I want our students to graduate fully prepared for success.

I want our schools to be places where students feel a sense of belonging and inclusivity, where they are safe. I will do everything in my power to expand our mental health counseling services to address the serious issues our students face today. I propose that the money saved from my election be allocated to improving mental health services.

I am committed to taking decisive action to combat bullying in our schools. I will also work to reschedule board meetings to times when parents and stakeholders can attend. I aim to initiate open discussions with community input on any new initiatives we undertake as a system.

For years, I've fought for your right to make this choice. My opponent, however, opposed restoring this very right to the people, expressing disappointment at the idea of voters having a say. My campaign has always been about you, the voters, and the students of this county. Nine years ago, I opposed taking away your vote. I stood against Project X, as did many of you. I opposed the imposition of a ½ cent sales tax without a vote. I also objected to the distribution of political signs in our schools, which I believed not only violated the spirit of free elections but possibly the law as well.

When a salary schedule was developed, seemingly to deter people from running for this office, I chose to run. I funded my campaign primarily with my own money and donations from fellow citizens who believe in democracy. In contrast, my opponent received a majority of his funding from businesses and corporate donors, some of whom were involved in the failed Project X.

My decision to run was not driven by ego or personal gain, but by a sense of duty. If elected, I will effectively take a pay cut, while my opponent stands to receive a raise. I ask all voters to stand with me in restoring accountability and transparency to OUR school system. I am a conservative in every sense of the word, valuing the adage "waste not, want not" and striving to practice it in my life.

This is YOUR school system, owned by the taxpayers, and I will work for and answer to you. Thank you, and please vote on March 5th for accountability and transparency.

The election on March 5 is not about me; it is about the voters of this county having their say in their school system. Almost 60 percent of the voters voted for this opportunity 2 years ago. My opponent voted against this. I pushed for that vote and I voted with you. I ask you to vote with me on March 5. Thank you for your support..

March 5 is voting day. Please turnout and vote. March 5 determines every race in Cullman county. It will be raining but I need every vote , I have been a huge underdog in this race.
