I've been wanting to make some visible mending sample pieces for a while now. Being down sick with the flu for a couple of weeks was the perfect time to start. These are sashiko-inspired designs - slow-stitching, artful mending that transforms wear and tear into something special. Suddenly a ratty, old pair of jeans is a bespoke piece that is truly one of a kind. These are days of rising prices, disappearing resources, and literal mountains of fiber trash polluting the environment. Mending is a form of activism and resistance against over-consumption and fast fashion. I'm excited to begin offering artful mending workshops locally. I've got a couple of places lined up and a few spots I want to reach out to, but please let me know if you know of venues, events, or groups that might welcome this type of workshop.
