I’m planning to do more watercolors of local historic buildings, starting with the Old Newton County High School or Sharp building. What other local historic sites should I add to my list?

It’s been a while since I dipped into the watercolors, but requested this painting of the Newton County Theme School for a fellow teacher friend, since they’re moving buildings this year from the old Ficquett to the old Eastside building. I love doing these architectural pieces, combining my love for detail in the pen work with color blending and the softness of watercolor.

I’ll have this piece available as a print for anyone who is interested in having a keepsake of the old building where so many generations of Newton County kids went to school, first as Ficquett Elementary and then as NCTS. ❤️

Note, they are polymer clay so while they’re not as delicate as the ornaments I make due to their design, they are breakable. They’re suitable for gentle play for kids who are old enough to be careful, but not suitable for really little kids.
