This is my favorite photo of myself from our Communal Sound Choir Concert this past Saturday night. As I spent time in recovery and reflection, the word ALIVE came to mind. ALIVE... yes... it is fitting.

Communal Sound makes me feel alive. All of my senses and physical responses are engaged when I sing and when this choir sings. We cultivated and experienced joy, energy, celebration, goodness, laughter, full presence, and camaraderie.

There are many things in our lives that are designed to suck the life out of us: work, family situations, emotional challenges, politics, social issues, traumatic cultural experiences, illness, and words that are often spoken over us that we can't "un-hear".

But when we sing... when this choir sings... when the audience sings... when the band plays... It's like these things pause for the moment. Like they don't exist. All that exists is being fully present in a moment of beauty, vulnerability, and song.

ALIVE. That is the Communal Sound Choir experience. We cultivate beauty and goodness. We make space for connection and ease.

I am FULL of gratitude in this moment.
