🥹 This entire project brings a tear to my eye because of how hard Briana and I have worked to make it a reality, but mostly about how much support the industry has shown us about it right from the jump.

There's a lot to be said, guys, for "teaching lighting to photographers", of course. But there's so much more involved in the art of intimate portraiture, whether you're specifically focused on bo***ir as a service or create intimate portraiture in the fine art space.

For decades now, but acutely the last 20 years or so on social media, we have seen the rise and fall of vision, grace, dignity and artistry in the intimate portraiture space. It's beautiful, it's mesmerizing, it's often polarizing, it's inherently controversial, but what cannot be questioned is how powerful it is.

Exploring intimacy and sensuality for the sake of your amazing clients, to bring them into a newly discovered presence or reclamation of themselves that maybe they forgot they were, is one of the most enduring and empowering things a photographer can do. A rebuilding of the soul and of the confidence that every human being deserves to exude.

Or perhaps you explore intimacy in portraiture for beauty's sake, and to share with the world.

All valid. All vital. But with it comes a responsibilty.

Yeah, of course you have to learn the technical. You've got to learn your lighting, you've got to learn your camera settings, you've got to learn how you work with color and how you work with composition.

But the underlying element, the underlying behavior, the underlying way of thinking is about dignity and intent.

And to that end, we created Laid Bare Retreat.

Our inaugural event goes down in the beautiful Colorado Springs amongst the mountains and nature in a rustic estate property. A curated small list of attendees to ensure the most inclusive, welcoming, warm, inspiring, and motivational experience for everyone.

Direct access to both of us for four days, including two days of direct education and shooting. We want everyone to immediately feel at home with us in Colorado Springs and to leave more inspired and motivated than perhaps they've ever been.

Why did I start hosting education events?

It wasn't just because of the education and all the new techniques I know are imperative to grow.

It was most importantly to get to know my peers, my community, and to build relationships.
True relationships where you could actually build a tribe of people, from all around the world.
People that you then could call and ask to help you with a struggle you're going through in your business.
People that you could lean on when things weren't going right and you just needed somebody to hear you out and know they they too understand.
People that you could throw ideas at and get creative with.
People that your weren't afraid of messing up in front of.
People that would support and encourage you when you felt like an imposter.

It's people!

This is why Recompose was built and why we will continue to invite instructors from all over the world that have the same vision and passion to bring people together and give them the best of the best.

Another very fun concept and play with Model Jeanette!

Jeanette was a client of mine first as are most of the models that I have used thus far. She asked me if I ever needed a play date or model; she was so willing to do it! So I took her up on the offer!

Here we are using Godox Global Godox AD600 Pro lighting and a gobo for the wall. Rosco Gels to hit everything off. Lastly, we have a VFlat by V-Flat World used to place some cool shadows on the wall!

They spend a lot of their time, and we always want to show our appreciation.

June 13th & 14th | Hosted by Lea Flores Photography - Bo***ir Photographer and Recompose EDU Retreats, where photographers come to learn!

DAY ONE | Saturday, June 13th | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Spend the day diving deep into the art and psychology behind creating images that not only stop people in their tracks… but sell.
Marco will teach you how to use emotion with intention to create more impactful imagery and a stronger client connection, leading to increased sales and a more elevated client experience.

Throughout the day, you’ll learn:
✨ How storytelling shapes your brand, your sessions, and your client journey
✨ How to create dramatic, dark and moody imagery from start to finish
✨ Light placement, direction, and how to sculpt with shadows
✨ Dynamic posing that creates variety and emotion
✨ How to direct expression for more powerful reactions

Then we’ll put it all into action with a full 2-hour live session, shooting together in real time.

Afterward, Marco will walk you through his editing process, showing exactly how he brings the final image to life.
We’ll wrap the day with an open Q&A, so come prepared and bring every question you’ve got.

For those wanting even more… Day Two is where creativity gets pushed further.

Step outside the box with a creative available-light night session that will challenge the way you see and use light in unconventional environments.

CONTINUED DAY TWO | Sunday Morning:
We’ll continue with an artistic n**e portfolio-building session, where Marco will demonstrate some of his most requested and best-selling poses.
You’ll have the opportunity to photograph multiple models in different locations, creating a diverse and elevated portfolio.
