Feeling like an imposter means you’ve forgotten your strength, knowledge, and all the incredible things you’ve overcome. You didn’t go through everything you’ve been through just to survive it—you went through it to grow stronger, gain wisdom, and build credibility. When we start something new, we often think we’re starting at zero. But you’re not. You’re starting with everything you’ve already learned, survived, and achieved. You’re starting with a whole set of skills, knowledge, and experiences that make you ready for this next step.So stop discounting yourself. Stop counting yourself out. It’s time to count yourself IN and remember:You’ve got this. You’ve done it before, and you can do it again—even better this time. You’re not an imposter. You’re prepared. You’re experienced. You’re capable.Start owning it.

Though I am making every effort to not allow my workplace to become this toxic, I can say it’s definitely difficult.

We can shake our heads and wonder how?

Why su***de??

I address in my book, “ Liberating the Proverbs 31 Woman”, what can happen mentally, emotionally and physically when women don’t mitigate their stressors.

Stress throws our hormonal balance into disarray, leading to chaos in both mind and body.

What was once manageable becomes a mountain. Minor irritations grow into major burdens. And for us women, particularly Black women, this impact is even more pronounced. Su***de is not impossible, in fact, it becomes a reasonable option once the mind is in crisis and confused due to the hormonal disruptions. It’s truly disheartening.

While we may not have the power to overhaul the system, support each other as we attempt to cope with and navigate toxic work environments.

Dr. Candia-Bailey’s work, her struggles, and her untimely passing will not be forgotten. Her legacy is a reminder of the urgent need to address these issues.

Have you ever felt like you're living by a script that everyone else seems to have a hand in writing?

It’s time to draft your own narrative, embracing the freedom to live as you truly imagine. This journey towards self-liberation, especially for midlife women, means shedding the layers of external expectations and rediscovering the essence of who you are and what you truly desire. In other words… block out what everyone else thinks and find what lights you up inside."

In “Liberating the Proverbs 31 Woman,” we explore this path of self-discovery and empowerment. Here are key steps to guide you:

1. **Your Path, Your Rules:** Remember, your life's story is yours to write. No one else gets a pen.
2. **Breaking the Mold:** Who says you have to fit into someone else's box? Create your own shape.
3. **Speak Up, Stand Out:** Got something to say? Let the world hear it. Your voice matters.
4. **Chase What Matters to You:** What makes your heart happy? Do more of that. Forget the rest.

It’s time to liberate yourself from expectations that no longer serve you. Working together or not doing at all. Working together so that we all can enjoy. Also, allow others to help if you have not been doing that. Change is good.

What does your ideal story look like and sound like?

I once clung to the need for safety, only to find myself trapped in a world of stagnation, unfulfilled dreams, and a pervasive sense of being stuck. The moment of realization came with a powerful truth: these chains were imaginary, forged from the stories I told myself.

We often craft narratives of safety that justify our lack of progress, forgiveness, and joy. But the stories of the life we yearn to create are daunting, lacking the safety net of familiar excuses.

Rewriting your story means embracing your failures, flaws, and victories, taking radical responsibility for your life’s direction. It’s a daunting journey, fraught with challenges, but transformative. Change only beckons when the discomfort of the status quo outweighs the fear of the unknown.

For those feeling trapped in stagnation, unsure of where to start changing, my book is a beacon of hope. “Liberating the Proverbs 31 Woman: Rewriting Old Narratives for Health, Happiness, and Hormone Harmony” addresses the societal norms that keep women confined in a cycle of sadness, illness, and suffering.
