– The first glance your resume gets will probably be 10 seconds. Let’s talk about how to allow your resume to be skimmed more easily.

✓ Add adequate spacing between accomplishments. When I have the room, I allow 6 pts between; if pressed for space, 3 pts.

✓ Front-load accomplishments. Start out the phrase with the result and then share how you accomplished this. For example, “Reduced costs 20% by automating XYZ.” Or, “Increased sales 20% by XYZ.”

✓ BOLD just the result and leave the rest of the accomplishment unbolded, so your result can be easily seen when skimming.

✓ In the education section, bold just the degree. If you went to a prominent school, add in bolding of the school you attended, and consider moving education up earlier in the resume for an ivy league or prestigious school.
