Important information everyone should know about "flight mode" regarding the Doodle that has been running loose in North Ridgeville and Avon.
**If you see this loose Doodle, please report by calling or text with time/street and direction dog is running/walking to Remi's Pet Recovery who is in contact with the dog's family. Contact Venessa at 216-644-4511 Thank you!
Why You Should Never Follow or Chase a Loose Dog.
Chasing a loose dog is one of the most common mistakes dog lovers make, and it can actually make recovery harder and more dangerous. The instinct to run after a loose dog is a natural response for a human, but it can trigger the dogâs fight-or-flight response, making them run faster and farther away from the area.
Why Chasing Is Dangerous.
Flight Mode Activation: When a dog is scared, confused, or in pain, its survival instinct takes over. Even friendly family pets can enter full âflightâ mode, ignoring their name or familiar cues.
Escalation of Fear: Approaching, following or running toward the dog or trying to corner a dog makes it perceive you as a threat, increasing adrenaline and making it harder to calm down and the dog could try to bite as a defense from fear and danger!
Driving a dog into unsafe areas: Panicked dogs in flight mode often run into traffic, wooded areas, or bodies of water, which can be life-threatening areas.
Pushing Them Further Away: The more you pursue, the more they run, moving out of the area where posters, traps, and search efforts are focused from professional dog recovery organizations.
Real-Life Risks
Injury or Death: Running into traffic or falling into hazards is a real danger.
Thank you!!
