Analog RAM
Announcing an open call for written submissions to the catalog that will accompany the April 2016 exhibition Analog Ram: The Return of Active Memory, which will take place at the Research House for Asian Art in Chicago. Analog Ram will feature seven years of figure drawings produced by SAIC students who participated is Mary Lou Zelazny's course Figure Painting: from Photography to Memory.
This extensive drawing project and exhibition aims to reintroduce and celebrate the concept of figurative improvisation, expressionism, invention, wit and immediacy in figure painting and drawing.
Artists and writers are invited to contribute written pieces of up to 500 words, which will address the artwork directly or discuss and critique the themes, context, and ideas of the show. Texts are solicited from various disciplines, e.g. art history, poetry, fiction, art criticism, etc. An overview of the exhibition can be seen at: analogramex.com/works
