Let me explain this with a basketball analogy.🏀
All three of my kids play, but I’ll use my youngest to make this point.
She’s been training for years. She’s worked on her shooting form, footwork, conditioning, and defense. When you watch her in practice, she looks ready.
And she is ready - BUT practice doesn’t win games.
I know they say “practice makes perfect” but at some point, the ball has to go live.
Right?!
There are defenders, pressure, and real-time decisions that she gets to make. That’s when she will find out what works.
This is what I see happening in business for a lot of entrepreneurs…
They are constantly preparing. They’re posting content, building funnels, setting up systems, and refining their message.
None of this will replace being in the game.
And the game is conversations with real people.
This is where clients are created. This is where trust is built. This is where decisions are made.
If you’re doing all the right things but still not seeing consistent clients, there’s a good chance you’re in practice mode. Still.
Until you start having real conversations, your effort won’t compound. You've got to get out there and have conversations daily to create leverage and clients.
A few days ago I said I was creating a space for consultants, coaches, and online business owners who want a consistent client pipeline.
I soft launched it this week. No name yet (still deciding 🤔), just action.
No trainings. No overthinking.
Just focused ex*****on.
In 60 minutes:
• Calls booked with JV partners
• Outreach sent and responses coming in
• Emails + DMs sent
• A podcast appearance secured
And I was right there doing the work too.
Nothing complicated. Just the right actions, done consistently.
Biggest takeaway? 💡
Everyone said they wouldn’t have taken action without the structure.
That’s the gap.
It’s not strategy. It’s having a space that keeps you focused and moving.

At some point, business gets harder before it gets easier.
Nobody really prepares you for that part.
You’ve got clients.
You’re making money.
Things are working…
And then suddenly your business feels heavier.
And there is a reason why this happens. It doesn’t mean something is wrong with your business.
It usually means your business has grown…
but how you’re operating hasn’t caught up to your business yet.😯
That’s the part people skip over.
And it’s exactly what I’ll be talking about at the Scaling Smart Summit this week:
🎤 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲
If you’re in that “this used to feel easier” season, you’ll want to be in the room. You can get your free ticket to this event here: https://summit.sherellslaise.com/Scalingsmart2026
