I did not create this vignette in our English style breakfast room.
This Colonial Williamsburg blue and white porcelain shell trinket dish is the resting place for toys children cannot bring to breakfast; the bouncy-ball was a reward from the dentist and the tiny violin that plays real music was a gift for paying attention to the teacher for twenty lessons in a row. I have no idea what that tiny silver pin is, or where it is from. I'm holding on to it, just in case.
The children have been with us for nine months and our worlds have become beautifully intertwined.
