Interesting that people want to own things if they somehow resonate with the artist. I’ve felt so anonymous making things and being behind the scenes. I’m kind of sensitive and sometimes took criticism to heart. I remember having to show someone every piece in the early days to get approval. I’ve also noticed things I made that broke the mold did find the right collector. I remember making a piece inspired by Kachina dolls I saw at a museum in Phoenix. I started making a frame and then I wanted to make it into a mask. I started painting eyes and gluing feathers to it. And then I ripped that part off. I wound up detaching myself later to finish it and put it on my website and it found a buyer soon after. I remember wanting to do a whole mask series. I’ve always loved masks!!

Get this. Inspired by the walls of crosses and other Sacred Mexican folk art, I decided to condense the wall into a window and make it more personal. I think the color and roses along with images of Guadalupe create a little garden to sooth the spirit.
