I wanted to pull my hair out.
As I sat there in an online event promoted as a marketing master class in aesthetic medicine, with aesthetic leaders and marketing experts, I hoped to learn something new or gain insight into what industry leaders are seeing right now.
Instead, it was generic fluff, outrageous AI claims, and proclamations about the future of search engine optimization (SEO).
"SEO is dead."
Oh really? Where?!
"Here's how you optimize your site for AI"
Dude, that's just repackaged SEO!
"YouTube is important now because of Google's AI"
YouTube was already important for SEO.
What are we doing, guys?!
I'll tell you what THEY are doing; they're convincing you to "replace" SEO with AI optimization (AEO, GEO), charging a premium, and giving you what you should have always been getting.
And it's beyond frustrating to me, as someone who has been doing this for over 15 years, helping practices rank for highly competitive keywords.
So if someone tells you that you need to replace your SEO company with one that is embracing AI, pause and talk to your current company about it.
Just because they're using buzzwords doesn't mean the value is higher.
