The Chicago PR Project

At PRP, we don’t celebrate the 4th of July. We serve through it.
There’s no freedom when our people are unhoused, overpoliced, and underfed.
There’s no independence when harm reduction is criminalized, and basic dignity is denied.

So we showed up—like we always do.
Mobile showers. Hot meals. Harm reduction supplies. Community care.
Because liberation isn’t a holiday. It’s daily work.
And we are part of the resistance.

Honored to have presented on Harm Reduction Theory & Practice for Social Workers at the NASW Conference in Chicago. I had the privilege of presenting alongside the incredible Dr. Sorrell and Chelsea Laliberte.

Big love to my sister Rana for showing up and showing out, and a huge thank you to Joey for holding it down behind the scenes and keeping everything organized!

We also had the opportunity to set up a mock overdose prevention site and educate amazing social workers on why this is such a vital resource for our communities. The response was unanimous:
“So what’s the hold up? This is common sense!” 💯 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Yes! Solidarity!!

We officially expanded to Maywood ya’ll thanks to . We teamed up with one of our community partners who have been covering this area for a while. Our first day in Maywood was last Friday from 11-2. We are still working on our full schedule. Stay tuned…

Holy crap, y’all!! 😅

Today was our first day of the season with the mobile shower unit—and it came with some technical difficulties! Sis and I got everything set up and were almost ready to roll when… the water didn’t turn on. 😩

Turns out, a few valves needed adjusting, the pump sensor kept shutting off every 2 minutes, and there was a loose pipe on the opposite side of the pump. We made a huge mess in the water storage area—but we figured it out!! 🙌🏽

We officially kicked things off today in West Humboldt Park on this beautiful day. Our next stop will be Madison Ave—stay tuned!

The PRP team packed last weeks meal with so much love. The community was looking forward to their weekly meal of Puerto Rican food. Thanks to t**i Mari for always making sure we are good to go!! 🧡✊🏽

Friday night outreach consisted of white rice and steak in sauce. Catered by thank you Mari for your patience with us as we try our best to manuever one of the busiest days of our week. We served so many people and each time we go out, there are more people. I hope our dream comes true of having a brick and mortar where we can cook all day for our community and of course do so much more. We ran out of Narcan before making it to our next community so we hit up CRA for more. Thanks for looking out for us!
