Are you feeling frustrated because you have been applying to jobs like crazy and it seems you're not receiving call backs? I'm willing to bet it's not because you're unqualified, it's likely because resume mistakes are causing one or more fatal errors.

As an experienced recruiter a job seeker has about 10 seconds to "wow" a recruiter, it's your first impression to a potential employer. Your resume needs to be strong, clear demonstration of just how awesome you are at what you do. That's how you get an interview and once you rock that, you have a job.

Please stay tuned for next week's post on Part 1 of common resume mistakes job seekers make that can limit their job search.

When most people think of creating or updating a resume it usually means they are looking for new employment. WRONG!! There are many reasons why you should create or update your resume today, even if you're not actively seeking new employment. Here are some great examples:

1. Your current employment situation can change at any moment (the company is acquired, sold or going out of business)

2. Your current employer might request an updated resume from you (company is under a Request for Proposal (RFP) or applying for a grant and requires info about the company's current employees)

3. Your looking for a promotion or internal transfer (most employees don't think that a resume is required in these situations, but most of the time they are, especially if you work for a company that has clients outside of the company that you will be working with)

4. Some companies require an updated resume with your annual performance review. This is a great time for you to focus on your accomplishments in your current role.

5. Resumes are a great networking tool. You never know when you will meet someone that might be interested in learning more about your accomplishments and qualifications that will lead you to new opportunities.

6. In today's market you might even get an email or call from someone that is recommending you for a position that you didn't even apply for.

IT'S ALWAYS A GREAT IDEA TO HAVE AN UPDATED RESUME ALWAYS AVAILABLE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT LIFE WILL THROW AT YOU AND THIS IS ONE WAY TO BE PREPARED.

REACH OUT TO ME TODAY IF YOUR INTERESTED IN GETTING YOUR RESUME UPDATED!!
