It's cold and dark this time of year. It can often feel like the darkness is overpowering. Pastor Phil shares with us how the hope of Christianity is that the darkness will not ultimately win.

Light in the Darkness » SDB Chicago The light came into the world and the darkness did not overcome it. But we also know that the darkness is not yet completely defeated. We still struggle with pain and death. There is still sadness and evil in this world. And so we wait for the second coming of the light.

Today the DNC begins in Chicago. Any regular convention would bring with it the hassles of traffic, booked hotels, and large crowds. However, for the last several months the local NPR station has been talking about all the different protests that are going to happen this week. There is unrest even among the protest groups about who gets to march where and use what services. The one thing that seams to be in short supply right now is peace. Please join us in praying for our city. Pray that the peace of God is felt. Pray protection for everyone who will be downtown this week. Pray that the Church in Chicago can be a beacon of light and peace during this time. Pray that despite all the potential unrest the name of Jesus will be lifted high in Chicago this week.
