Here’s the story behind SkateRave. I’ve been in tech all my career and tried countless workout programs to stay in shape. I’d be consistent for 6 months and then lose gradually lose interest or “get busy”. Once I had my first kid it became even harder to consistently fit in work out days. Had a second one and it became even more difficult. Tried it all, home gym, public gym, cardio, strength training, HIIT programs like F45, outdoor bootcam, but nothing really stuck.

Gradually feel more and more out of shape before I hit my low in December 2020, mid 20% body fat, low energy, low motivation, always tired. Had a great career and family, but my physical condition was starting to drag everything down. I started posting under on TikTok about my career in tech sales for people to follow in my steps, and around the same time fell back into an activity I loved as a kid, roller skating. I bought a Thule Chariot can hold 100lbs and glides extremely smoothly. I took it a step further and tried out 10 different speaker set ups until I found one that fit perfectly and also aimed the sound only back to myself and my wife .

I was instantly hooked, and for 8 months straight I would skate for an hour with the kids for an hour after work, playing EDM down the lake shore path. The kids absolutely loved it, and I had the most fun working out I’ve ever had. I got in the best shape of my life and didn’t have to bite myself to death with treadmill runs or the same gym routine.

Jamille and I got heavy into the EDM scene in October 2022 and have gone to 12 shows and festivals since then, most recently Excison’s amazing Mile High 2 day show in Denver and Wooli in Chicago. We have a full slate of events planned this year including , , , , and many other local shows at our favorite Chicago venue .

We’re launching in Chicago in April, with LA and San Diego closely behind. Excited to see where we can take this and tie the awesome communities of skating and raving together!
