I walked into one of my favorite distilleries in Tennessee this week.
To be honest, their output isn’t always the most consistent.
But their customer service?
Their vibe?
Absolutely unforgettable.
The second I opened the door, I was greeted by this guy behind the counter. 🐶
Big grin. Tail going. Pure excitement.
He wasn’t trying to upsell me.
He didn’t care whether I bought a bottle.
He just seemed genuinely happy that I walked in.
And honestly… that feeling matters more than most businesses realize.
People remember how you make them feel.
You can have the slickest systems, the perfect strategy, the best product in the market… but if customers feel like a transaction, they eventually drift away.
The businesses people rave about create connection.
Warmth.
Belonging.
Energy.
That’s what keeps customers coming back.
Sometimes the best lesson in customer experience comes from a golden retriever behind a counter in Tennessee.

Dad and Daughter lunch at the Bush Farmhouse in Black Mountain, N.C.
South African inspired restaurant serving pap and boerewors, Bobotie, and milk tart.
Great lunch, even though we missed our mothers today.
