π¨ $30,000 Settlement for Illegally Booting & Towing Semi Trucks in Charlotte π¨
A Charlotte-based tow company has been ordered by the North Carolina Attorney General to pay $30,000 to truck drivers after illegally blocking and towing semi trucks β charging up to $4,000 to release them, even when drivers had permits.
The court has now banned the company from:
β’ Booting or towing trucks without property owner permission
β’ Charging excessive fees
β’ Holding commercial cargo
β’ Failing to notify drivers
βοΈ Violations of the new order could result in fines up to $110,000.
Starting December 2025, using boot devices on commercial trucks will officially be a felony in North Carolina.
