had the opportunity to run the in gate of the walk trot - cross rails ring at a show this weekend, the same local horse shows that I grew up going to. Some kids had their best days ever, others had to dig in, some on green ponies, others on sweet schoolmasters. Every single kid learned something this weekend and every single kid was a good sport. Something that I think is extremely important no matter what level you’re at is that whether it’s your day to win or not, you still worked hard to be here. The two minutes in the ring is only a snapshot of the hours training you’ve put in, whether you’re at the grassroots level or beyond. Often times we get so hung up in the pressure and mistakes we lose sight of the love of the sport and the curious nature of getting better. Adding to the charm was the ear to ear smiles of these kids coming out of the ring after missing changes or adding in lines, or the kid who got a ribbon out of nine- not a blue ribbon, just a ribbon. The joy these kids had in the moment is something that I believe many of us can be appreciative of the reminder. It’s supposed to be fun 😀

🦄A little about me: I’m Erin, a lifelong equestrian who combined my passion for and experience within the sport to create a niche mental skills coaching perspective. I have a masters in applied sport psych with a focus on confidence coaching but more importantly I’ve ridden and competed my whole life from the grassroots level to point chasing junior hunters to winning grand prix to producing a young horse. I get this sport in its entirety. And there is a reason I am a mental skills coach: I did a lot of things wrong that set me up for poor show day mental prep, unmet goals, and subsequent frustration/confidence hits. I lost sight of the joy and that had to change.

⁉️What is mental skills coaching? Like physical exercise for a strong body, mental skills coaching helps you flex your strong mind. I am NOT a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or counselor; I do NOT work clinically. I am a coach who helps you refrain your thoughts to think more effectively and efficiently. We work together to pressure proof your brain.

🏅My coaching style is flexible. Need motivation? I’m your cheerleader. Need a drill Sargent? I’ll suit up. Need your hand held? I’ll walk beside you. Need a listening ear to ride the roller coaster? I’ll buckle up. I meet you where you’re at using your strengths to build strategies that help you reframe your thinking.

❌Things you will not get from me: affirmation that you’re nuts, or that you’re too much, or that your thoughts are anything but valid. I frequently use the word “perceived” in my coaching because what you are experiencing MATTERS and if we can change your perception, we can change your mental game.

✅I work with athletes of all ages and levels. Walk-trot to FEI; juniors, amateurs, pros; equestrians and other sports. Sessions are done remotely via phone call or video chat. Scheduling is flexible with no cancellation fees.

Mental skills coaching is for everyone 😄 Just this week, I have had calls from juniors and amateurs competing at the top levels of the sport, professionals wondering how they can best support their students, and parents looking for guidance on how to navigate the sport. I’m not sure what I pictured for Remarqueable Athletics when I first hung my shingle, but this is far better than anything I could have dreamt. Yes, the bulk of my work is individual clients working on individual goals, however, I am absolutely open to talking in a consultant role so every member of the team is on board. “pursue your best rather than fearing your worst”
