This rain sure is a sight for sore eyes.

I know the timing isn't great, but we sure need the rainfall.

Hazy sky this morning from our Speedway camera, but you can also see a sun pillar on the horizon. These appear from sunlight interacting with ice crystals in the high clouds. They act like small mirrors reflecting the sunlight.

Breaking out the weather shoes for a school talk today. It’s the only rain we’ll see for quite some time 🤣

Fun memories of the family visiting the station over the years. They were so little.

Today marks 15 years since the worst tornado outbreak in NC history. This mainly occurred in the eastern part of the state with 30 tornadoes and 24 fatalities.

Two of those tornadoes struck in our area. The NWS office in Raleigh (which had to briefly take shelter from the storms) has a great write-up on the event.

This was the event that destroyed the Lowe's in Sanford along with over 900 homes and businesses across the state.
