I had a blast working on the single versions of 'Zydeco Sony Pas Salé'. The 'North-Side' being the original analog recording from 1965, and the 'South-Side' being the Rolling Stones version featuring Steve Riley (for whom I mastered his Grammy Nominated 'Grand Isles album a while back).

Ironically, the very first 45 single that I ever purchased was The Rolling Stones 'Get Off Of My Cloud', which at the age of six, I somehow perceived and valued the uniqueness and irreverent nature of that track. This session was definitely one of those 'full-circle' moments.

CC Adcock did an amazing job producing this track in a way that only CC could do (along with the always excellent engineering assistance of Mike Napolitano and Tony Daigle). It's a great version with a timeless nature to it; think 'Exile On Main St.' / Zydeco mashup.

Seek out this single version, it has a bit more dynamic range than the album version (which I did not master, and which the engineer had to work with many disparate mix engineers and mix aesthetics).

I also had a blast at the 100th Birthday celebration and record release party at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. The last photo is of an amazing panel discussion which revealed the storybook nature of the entire project, and a lot of 'behind the scenes' 'intelligence. CC held court and kept everyone in stitches with his self-effacing delivery.

Vinyl has made a big comeback in the back half of the second decade of the 21st century. Artists are reporting high demand at ‘merch’ tables for vinyl and special events such as ‘Record Store Day’ have had an impact on the demand for vinyl as well.

If you are considering vinyl for your project, there are several things to consider while preparing for and estimating project costs relative to vinyl production. Vinyl, unlike digital audio, has physical restrictions relative to the physical medium.
Specifically, due to the mechanics of vinyl playback, cutting great acetates or ‘lacquers’ involves juggling these three variables:
1. Bass
2. Amplitude
3. Running Time
