Did Jesus actually teach doctrine, or did He just love people?
It can be easy to take snippets of the Gospels out of context, but when you look closely, you realize that Jesus didn't just teach doctrine—He lived it! If we think about the categories of doctrine—like theology, soteriology, and all the "ologies"—Jesus lived every single one of those categories out directly.
He didn't write us a step-by-step systematic theology book. Instead, He perfectly applied the underlying principles of God's truth to how He lived His perfect, sinless life. However, through the Gospels, by reverse-engineering how He lived and taught, we are able to form some really rich, beautiful, and sound doctrine for our lives today.
