Well… our Dry Tortugas adventure isn’t happening after all.

So we made the best of it.

🍤 Joey ordered shrimp for the first time

🐚 Conch fritters

🐟 Snowy grouper

🍦 And yes… we finally tried Conch Custard

Not a bad day in the Keys.

We’re here through the weekend and still looking for some unforgettable experiences.

What’s the one thing in the Keys you’d tell a family not to miss?

Well… our seaplane trip to Dry Tortugas got canceled.

The good news? We already took one recommendation from you guys and tried Conch Custard yesterday. Definitely worth it.

Now we’ve got an unexpected free day in the Keys.

What’s the one thing you’d absolutely do if you had an extra day down here?

We’ve watched sunsets from beaches, lakes, campgrounds, RV resorts, drive-ins, and everywhere in between while traveling as a family.

Some of our favorite camping memories have been at River Falls at the Gorge, cooking dinner while the kids played in the river right from our campsite.

We’re heading back next month. We can’t wait!

One thing we never leave home without is our Cuisinart pizza oven.

Tonight was homemade pizza night.

Now we’re curious…

What’s the one meal your family requests every single trip?

For us, pizza is always near the top of the list.

This morning I booked a 7:00 PM appointment at Maddie’s Beauty Salon.

She spent all day making sure I didn’t forget and was beyond excited when I arrived 15 minutes early.

The service was great. Five stars.

The color selection? Debatable.

But some of the best memories are made on random Tuesday nights.

Any other dads out there proudly sporting painted nails because their daughter asked them to? 😂

We’re 9 days away from heading back to the Florida Keys, but we’ve got one problem…

We still haven’t decided where to stop for the night on the drive down.

We’ll be leaving the Kissimmee area and heading toward Fiesta Key the next morning.

If you were breaking up the drive, where would you spend one night?

We’d love something with a great view, waterfront site, tiki bar, good food, or just a campground that’s worth the stop.

Where are you sending us?

Long before Route Unwritten existed, my grandparents spent 15-20 years traveling America in their fifth wheel. Looking back, they were probably the biggest inspiration behind my love for camping, RVing, and seeing what’s around the next bend in the road.

Today, we got to bring the RV to them.

We spent the afternoon in Zephyrhills catching up with Grandma and Grandpa, along with my dad and Liz. No tourist attractions, no big adventures—just family, stories, and time together.

RV travel isn’t always about the destination. Sometimes it’s about the people waiting for you when you get there.
