Fresh off the bench - Sterling Silver Spinning Top Cuff
I've been wanting to make this fidget cuff for quite some time, but a previous failure at a spinning top ring had me a bit leery. It was back in 2013 when I took a "kinetic rings" weekend workshop with local San Diego (now former) metalsmithing teacher, Connie Fox. Well, mine didn't spin due to the solder flowing where it wasn't supposed to in the final soldering stage 🤦so I ended up cutting off the ring topper and making it into a pendant (scroll for pic).
Anyway, as a girl who grew up on Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, I enjoy "spinny things" and have been wanting to incorporate more movement into my jewelry. I'm feeling more confident now after putting on my big girl panties and was successful with this cuff - swipe for video to see it in action.
I used a couple of mandala dies from Blackmagicsilversmithshop to make the textures on the spinning top, and a lampshade banding through the rolling mill for the cool cuff texture.
I made this cuff a bit long (about 6.5") but can cut a little off the ends to make it shorter. Shown on my 6.5" wrist (it's too big on me).

Here's another new coastal inspired piece I finished this week. This sterling silver pendant features a beautiful mermaid perched above an aqua blue Peruvian blue opal nestled in a fine silver scalloped bezel and framed in barnacles and shells. The back also features a beachy texture and a single starfish.
Available via DM to US buyers until I get her listed in my etsy shop.
I took the beach photo a couple years ago while at the Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii. I love those serene, turquoise waters.

Just finished this coastal inspired Apatite pendant in sterling silver. I love the deep ocean blues in this gem.
I created all the individual shells and barnacles and applied a water ripple texture to the back. I even gave the fine silver bezel a stippled sand-like texture. The bail has the same water ripple texture and is punctuated by a single barnacle.
Available for sale via DM to US buyers till I get her listed in my etsy shop.
I took the ocean pic on a recent trip to Kauai, view of the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.
