The topic of e-bikes and or electric motorcycles has brought a lot of attention in our community.

Tonight at the City Council meeting, I asked to oversee this alongside Police Chief Koch. There needs to be education to children and parents of children who are not following traffic laws and acting in an unsafe manner which puts their safety, along with the safety of others at risk. It is not our hope to infringe on abilities but make sure all applicable laws are being followed and to ensure the safety of children is at the forefront.

As the State of Iowa does not have clear guidance on specifics, they do have laws regarding the requirements on being able to operate the different types on the streets/sidewalks.

In the coming weeks, there will be more coming out on this from myself, and the Carlisle Police Department.

Thank you

Rudy

Congratulations to Officer Tony Palmer on his retirement from the Carlisle Police Department!

Tony has not only been a dedicated employee but a friend to anyone that knew him. I am honored to call him a a great officer, mentor, and above all else, a good friend.

As a councilman, it brings joy to watch people retire as it means that we are doing something right. As a friend, I am sad to see him go.

Badge 167, enjoy retirement!!

Is there a better view than this? I don’t think so!

As a community we should be proud, but I personally believe that the most pride should be in the athletes and coaches that did this!

Parents, you raised a great group of girls that you should be absolutely proud of.

Coaches, you developed a rockstar team and set a foundation that shows what Carlisle can do.

Athletes, be proud and savor this for the rest of your lives. You bring pride to your school and community.

Community members, hold this group up high and on a pedestal for their accomplishment.

Congratulations, and go Cats!!!
