Did you know there were not one but two upvalley Hands Off rallies this weekend?

- in Calistoga, food bank volunteers spoke about losing federal support that helps them provide basic groceries to local families in need;

- in Yountville, veterans organized the event, and spoke about their service to the country, and their deep concern about the loss of federal benefits;

- I told both groups that Napa County is likely to lose federal support for wildfire prevention work, and how we will be advocating in Washington DC this week to keep that critical funding.

Thanks to everyone who came out to walk, speak, and listen; it's so important to make our voices heard. Kudos to all the creative and thoughtful signs, and to the veteran who brought his aunt's 100-year-old copy of the Constitution - reminding everyone of our foundations!

Thank you to everyone who attended the community meeting that Congressman Mike Thompson and I held at the American Legion Hall in St. Helena (and thank you Post 199!).

It was good to have State Senator-elect Christopher Cabaldon join too, as well St. Helena Councilmember Anna Chouteau, Calistoga Councilmember Irais Lopez-Ortega, and St. Helena Planning Commissioner Hector Lopez.

As a group, we reflected on the results of this presidential election, acknowledged the divided state of our country, and many residents expressed their disappoinment and concerns.

Congressman Thompson reiterated his commitment to protecting the rights and livelihoods of residents, while also working with his colleagues "on both sides of the aisle on issues where we can find common ground."

At the local level, my team and I are committed to the same principle: finding common ground and shared goals whenever possible. And please know that here in Napa County, my commitment to serve you remains unwavering. Together, we will continue the important work of building a resilient, inclusive, and thriving community.
