here's a 2000s-era fender custom vibrolux reverb I've been working on on and off for a few weeks. as modern fenders go these have a really good reputation, same transformer set as the hot rod deluxe and previous owner even put some sweet weber speakers in it. the bad: these pcbs aren't great to work on as it is and that goes even more when you're not accustomed to then. somebody attempted "the fromel mods" and destroyed the pcbs so i gutted it and built on eyelet boards (as any good fender amp should be). one thing that's always bothered me with blackface amps is that the reverb is only on one channel which both leaves the normal channel too range and doesn't allow jumping the channels like an old four hole marshall. so reverb is on both channels now, the normal channel is a 6g6b blonde bassman normal channel (with proper 350k tapped treble pot) and the bright channel is blackface vibrolux with some tweaked values to bring out the brightness (also has a "fat" switch for more gain and bass). liked the idea of bias vary tremolo so i took that from the 6g16 brownface vibroverb (the last 'big' fender amp with bias vary trem... not fond of the 'roach' used in later amps). phase inverter converted to 12at7 as any ab763 should have and there's slightly less global negative feedback (but more than none like these originally were). TONS of reverb on tap. this can certainly do clean but also gets nasty if you crank it. this is now a true handwired custom shop amp
