Is there anything more gorgeous than a holiday print featured inside our Candy Classic frame? 🍬 **(I could really use a candy cane emoji here)**
The rich reds present in spalted Boxelder are unique to the Boxelder tree, a species of Maple in the Soapberry family. The vibrant red spalting is a natural wood coloring caused by fungus. 🍄 Just look at the variety!
This pigmentation is not seen in any other tree species and is often nicknamed ‘Flaming Boxelder’ or ‘Candy Boxelder.’

We’ve had a long summer break from social media, but will be getting back into the swing of things with our newsletter and blog so you can keep learning about tree science and the wonderful relationship between trees and fungi 🍄🟫
Stay tuned for more facts about spalting!
