How do you start your week?

Every Monday, I kick off my day by listening to a motivational video on YouTube while planning the week ahead. This simple routine helps me align my mindset and create an action plan for both my professional and personal goals.

As a brand strategist and graphic designer running my own business, staying motivated is essential. Some days are tough, but I’ve learned that mindset is everything. One quote that has stuck with me over the years is from Les Brown, one of my favorite speakers:

"Don’t say, ‘I’m having a bad day.’ Instead, say, ‘I’m having a character-building day.’"

The first time I heard these words, five years ago, they hit me hard. Back then, I was dreaming of becoming my own boss, working with small businesses, and helping them build meaningful, impactful brands. Today, I’m living that dream. I love what I do, but those challenging days still show up. This quote reminds me to reframe them not as setbacks, but as opportunities to grow.

Pursuing your dreams isn’t easy, but taking chances on yourself and staying brave in the face of challenges can change your life in the most extraordinary ways.

When I go grocery shopping, I cant hep but to look at all of the packaging for all of the food that I purchase. I notice what kind of packaging is eye-catching, and stands out from other products. I analyze what sets the designs apart, is it the color, hierarchy, or perhaps the choice of font. I always like to see what similarities competitors have within their products, and question what could I do as a designer that would create a strong design that stands out on the shelves. This project crave and crumble is a passion project, I wanted to design a cookie brand that is different from what we see on the store shelves, the goal was to create a fun, bubbly, and playful cookie brand. 😁
