This man was an architect to this thing we call tropical music. The discipline and foresight and dedication to his art form and craft is bar none. He gave us the infamous El Gran combo de Puerto Rico! The sound track and score of our culture, heritage and upbringings. It’s always been a constant in our latino lives and forever will be.

I had the privilege of being invited to his home with his family and front line singers. He showed me nothing but respect and negotiated like a professional. Even in his old age he was as sharp and clever as one can be. Made every move and decision with precision.

He and All of EGC has played for me all through the USA and we collectively created an annual show at Radio city music hall. Rafael Ithier you will be missed and can never be replaced!
