It's the most wonderful time of the year: chemical peel season!

Whether you've had a peel before or you're new to peels, it's important to get your skin prepped. Prepping the skin at least 2-6 weeks before a peel helps optimize your treatment results while minimizing complications. Here's how:

• Focus on the health of your skin barrier. This includes moisturizing and hydrating the skin and wearing sunscreen every day. Protecting the skin from accumulating further damage before a treatment is the most important part of peel prep. No sunscreen, no chemical peel.

• Get on a skincare routine. Your routine should include products that reduce your risk of hyperpigmentation, help speed up cell turnover and gently exfoliate the skin. If you don't have a routine, let's get you one!

• Visit your esthetician regularly. During your visits your esthetician will condition your skin with active treatments. This will help build your skin's tolerance to advanced peels.

• Schedule a chemical peel consultation. We'll use this time to discuss your long-term skin goals and build a peel plan that will help you achieve those goals.
