There are players that lift the hopes of their teammates with their abilities.

That's who senior pitcher Caroline Hedgepeth has been for the West Lincoln Bears in her long varsity career.

The type you know can get you a win whenever she's in the circle.

Hedgepeth, a Copiah-Lincoln Community College softball signee, is the 2026 Y'all Sports Most Valuable Defensive Player.

She finished her senior season with 127 strikeouts in 88.1 innings. Hedgepeth posted a 2.14 ERA for Coach John Floyd and West Lincoln (19-9).

In 2026, she topped 400 career strikeouts. Prior to her senior season, Hedgepeth pitched in the 1A/2A/3A All-Star game put on by the MAC, in which she won MVP.

She'll go to CLCC as a pitcher, but she's the athletic type of player that thrives under Meleah Howard.

Hedgepeth is no slouch with the bat, hitting for a .507 batting average as a sneior. She drove in 25 runs while hitting seven doubles, three triples, and one home run.

Heck of a player that's been fun to watch over her career, which isn't over, just moving on to the next level.

Bears and Lady Bears putting in the work during their summer break to get better! Many West Lincoln teams and student athletes have been attending camps and practices to get ready for their seasons. The 26/27 year will be here before we know it!

We are saddened to receive this news of Chase Owen, a West Lincoln grad and student athlete. May his memory be a blessing.

Prayers for the family, friends, and co-workers for fallen officer Chase Owen. Officer Owen was a two year member of the Citronelle Police Department in Alabama who tragically died on duty in an auto accident yesterday. Chase was a graduate of West Lincoln School class of 2018 and had family and friends still here in Lincoln County.
Rest easy officer.

SB | Lady Bears' Season Ends

West Lincoln's softball season came to an end as they fell to the Ethel Tigers 19-7 in six innings. Ethel now moves on to face Stringer in the third round.

West Lincoln's season record stands at 19-8.
