Loyd Star Golf

Brody Thibodeaux, a Hornet golf team member, visited Augusta, Georgia, for the Masters practice round on April 7, bringing a dream to fruition. As Brody's senior year ends, he will attend Meridian Community College in the fall on a golf scholarship.

At the Mississippi State Capitol, the Loyd Star Golf Women’s and Men’s 2A State Champions received formal recognition, with Senator Jason Barrett, Representative Becky Currie, and Representative Vince Mangold acknowledging their achievements on the Senate floor and in the House gallery today.

The Loyd Star Hornets' exceptional performance has earned them the distinction of Class 2A Champions for 2025, marking their second consecutive year as State Champs. Over the 2-day tournament, the Hornets showcased their proficiency, posting a score of 564, a mere 4 strokes over par.
Brooklyn Lee took top honors as the individual State Champion, shooting even par with a score of 140.
Brody Thibodeaux secured the runner-up position, shooting 141. Casen Easterling placed 4th, achieving a score of 143, while Riley Case followed closely in 5th place, shooting 144. Bentley Ferguson earned a 6th placement with a score of 149, and Phillip Ross Spencer concluded the Hornets' performance, finishing 9th with a score of 154.
The Hornets are coached by Jonathan Breakfield and Shane Easterling.

The Hornets will enter Round 2 of the State Tournament with a substantial 18-shot lead. Riley Case has taken the lead, shooting an impressive 67. Casen Easterling follows closely, tied for second with a notable 70. Brooklyn Lee is in fourth place with a 72, while Brody Thibodeaux is tied for fifth with a 73. Bentley Ferguson secured eighth place, shooting a respectable 74. Rounding out the Hornets' performance is Phillip Ross Spencer, who finished in 18th place with an 81.

Monday and Tuesday these 6 golfers will compete for the MHSAA 2A State Championship.
