🐾 Welcome Chappy to The Dallas Ranch!

This sweet-as-pie gentleman is 1 1/2 years old, a bit of a low rider, and weighs in at 30 pounds. He’s a corgi/shepherd mix.

🐶 Chappy’s Story:
Chappy comes to us as a boy who has been bounced around from home to home, truly through no fault of his own. So many people get dogs and then don’t commit to the process or just make a decision that one day, they don’t want a dog. Chappy was born in a foster home after his mama landed in the county shelter. He was adopted at eight weeks old but quickly transferred into our rescue (unsuitable placement). He was soon adopted again, but there was disagreement in the home about wanting a dog in the first place. Might we suggest that the entire family be on board when adopting an animal? Then one day, months later, he was irresponsibly handed off to a delivery driver and subsequently found as a stray. As soon as it was physically possible, Chappy was pulled from the county shelter and brought back into our fold. He is now in the comfort of a loving foster home where he is thriving! Talk about resilient. He is still so sweet, so affectionate, so willing to love with his whole heart.

➡️ All the positives:
Good with kids-yes
Good with dogs-yes (will play for hours)
Good with cats-yes
Good on a leash-yes
Sits for treats-absolutely (eager to learn)
Housebroken-yes
Crate trained-yes
Neutered-yes
Heartworm status-negative

➡️ Challenges:
We haven’t found a single one.

What lies ahead for Chappy? A loving family that deserves a boy this special. We will settle for nothing less and will be very selective in choosing his furever home so that the bouncing around he has known his entire life comes to an end. We know that the perfect family is out there and ready to love a dog as special as Chappy.💙

The road to rescue is hot again today! Amy, Aubrey, & Bumper hitched a ride with their favorite tranport, Buddy, as part of Project Rescue Ride. They’re leaving Taney County Animal Control, on their way to Quincy, IL!

We are grateful to the all rescue partners, transporters, donors, volunteers, and staff for their efforts in getting these precious babies one step closer to their furever homes.

The Dallas Ranch welcomed Stevie to the crew last week!

Stevie is a seven year-old Anatolian/Kengal mix, lovingly named after Stevie Nicks. She was surrendered to us by someone who truly loved her but found herself facing homelessness and unable to provide Stevie with the care she needed. We were able to meet mom at the vet to get Stevie treated and on her way to feeling better.

Stevie was welcomed by an angel foster where she has been welcomed wholeheartedly into the pack and is making huge strides in her recovery.

Love can mean different things. In Stevie’s case, love meant letting her go. We are honored to have Stevie as part of The Dallas Ranch, more updates to come.❤️

We need more fosters so that we can help dogs like Stevie. If you’d like to apply to be a foster with The Dallas Ranch, click here.👇🏻

Project Rescue Ride is officially on the road! It is with very full hearts that we share our first rescuer rider, Phillip Murphy. He arrived to beautiful Quincy, Illinois yesterday. He will spend just a few days with their assessment team before entering a foster home. Adoptions happen quickly through this amazing organization, and we are very anxious to see Phillip Murphy find his furever home.

The response to Project Rescue Ride has been amazing. Your donation goes directly to funding this life-saving initiative. If you would like to donate to our efforts to pull 100 animals from local shelters, please use the QR code or this link.

Let's keep rolling!

Chance here, dropping in to see if I can crash with you for awhile….or forever! We are currently accepting foster or adoption applications for this incredible boy. A little bit about Chance.👇🏻

Chance is a year and a half old. He is on the smaller side, weighing 34 pounds. He is a Mountain Cur/Plott Hound mix. You would never know that this forever happy boy was pulled from an abusive home. And while the abuse left Chance with permanent injuries, he doesn’t let it slow him down. He’s adapted beautifully and enjoys playing with other dogs. He loves people, gets along with kids, and was curious but respectful to the kitty he met.

While Chance loves to play with other dogs (he really is so friendly & is quickly learning how to hang with the pack), we are currently searching for a quieter home. We recently learned that Chance is heart worm positive and will need to undergo treatment. His treatments will be covered by The Dallas Ranch. But it is important during his recovery that he remain calm so that he can get much needed rest while his heart heals. Chance’s prognosis is good, & he is expected to make a full recovery. Chance will sleep in a crate but is not overly excited about it. He prefers to be with his human.

Is there anyone out there with a heart for the underdog? Anyone who can see this boy and his resilient spirit and say, “I’m your person.” He is sp deserving of a loving family & a safe place to call home. Whether it be for the duration of his treatment of forever, we fully believe his person is out there.
