Stages Cycling's VP of Product, Pat Warner, walked the talk again at USA Cycling's masters national championships this past week in Fall River, Wisconsin. Pat took his 24th individual national championship title in the time trial (the race of truth) aboard his brand new Giant Trinity Advanced SL time trial bike. Pat's newest championship title came after a solid 4th place in the criterium, while he rounded out his week with second place in the road race. "I gave it everything I had to get away solo," said Warner after the road race. "But I could not shake the last guy (Chris Parsons)." Warner crossed the line one second in arrears, with a four second cushion to third place. The main chase crossed the line another 20 seconds back. Congratulations Pat - way to represent the Stages Cycling brand!

A couple of weeks have passed since Unbound, but if you're still thinking about the riders, the stories, and the challenge of taking on a big endurance event, you're not alone.

Maybe it sparked an idea. Maybe it got you thinking about a longer gravel race, your first century, or simply setting a bigger goal for next season.

The best time to start preparing isn't a few weeks before race day. It's now.

Successful endurance seasons are built with a plan. Not every ride needs to be all-out, and not every week needs to be bigger than the last. The strongest riders understand how to balance training, recovery, and progression over months, not days.

That's why we put together a guide to planning your cycling year. From setting goals and structuring your season to understanding when to build fitness and when to recover, it's designed to help you create a training plan that works for your schedule, your experience level, and your goals.

Whether you're dreaming about a bucket-list gravel event, targeting a local race series, or simply looking to ride farther and stronger than you’ve done before, having a plan can make all the difference.

The finish lines worth chasing next season are built by the choices you make today.

The best part of the weekend ride is usually not the route you planned, but the places you find along the way. Quiet roads, long stretches of gravel, mountain views, small towns, and the kind of scenery that makes you want to keep going just a little farther.

Some rides turn into all-day adventures without meaning to. You stop less, take the long way home, and end up covering more miles than expected simply because the roads ahead look too good to pass up.

These are the rides we remember most. The ones with open roads, good weather, tired legs, and views that make every climb worth it.

Enjoy those weekend miles.
