Meeting one of my ancestral tree medicine, Hagenia abyssinica is commonly known as kosso in Ethiopia. The tree has a lot of stories to share about my past and present. I’m blessed and grateful to be guided by its spirit. 🙏🏽💚

Plants have played a vital role in the prevention and treatment of disease since prehistoric times. People in Ethiopia depend on plant resources for their basic needs.
🌱
Kosso is used as a remedy for intestinal parasites, especially against cestodes. The main part of the plant used for medicine is the female flowers. However, leaf, root, bark, and wood are also used for medicinal purposes, usually taken orally in the form of a decoction. However, it can also be consumed in the form of paste (e.g. by mixing the powdered flower with banana or honey).

It’s the second year of our healthy Burdock plant, one of my favorite digestive tonics. Let the magic began…..

Flowers in Burdock are a sign for reproduction, readiness and confirm species endurance. Pollinators are the target spectators, attracted by the blossoms to aid this trade. Blooming isn’t just a reproductive call; it is a medicinal high peak for Burdock. The root is best dug in early spring or late fall. It is necessary to harvest responsibly. I let the seeds fall and cover them before harvesting.
